This original adventure game explores a love story between two beautiful souls through ingenious humour and a bizarre, hand-drawn, frame-by-frame animation style. Our hero’s beloved has been abducted by evil spirits, and the only way to reunite them is to reincarnate himself as a dragon to defeat Evil. But something has gone wrong, and his soul is reborn as a worm named Pip. Now Pip must overcome the challenges of a surreal world, solve mind bending puzzles, and save his love.
Choosing between good and evil, Pip learns the laws of Karma, and his choices define the outcome of the game.
- Play as Pip and explore a rich, bizarre world.
- Use Astral sight, a power that allows you to peek into the world of spirits at any point of the game.
- Learn Karma laws through choice and action. Each evil deed spoils Pip’s karma and changes his appearance. Good deeds purify karma. Key characters respond differently to Pip’s karma, opening additional storyline.
- Hand-drawn animations of the varied interactions of Pip with his strange environment. The environment and other characters of the quests are drawn individually for each situation.
- Live magical award winning music and sound by ZMEIRADUGA.
Karma Incarnation 1 is an incredibly artistic and unique game that offers a little bit of something for everyone, easy enough for a child, entertaining enough for an adult, this game meets you in the middle and continues to surprise every step of the way. I remember trying the demo and really enjoyed the simple yet puzzling gameplay, waiting for the full version was a task but the wait had been worth it! Even after launch the developers have been updating the game constantly, adding and fixing things as they go.
One of the interesting things about this game is in all actuality, no matter what your religious belief is, we have no idea what happens after death or what realm(s) await us, so a game that takes you beyond the realm of death/out of body and into a new dimension of experimental reality with something new around every corner, really amps up the excitement for playing the game!
Karma is one of those games that immediately draws you in with it’s intriguing yet odd worlds filled with dozens of odd characters!
One of the interesting yet somewhat different mechanics of the game is the fact that there is no dialogue at all in game, everything is displayed with imagery that is easily understandable. This is a great approach and definitely fits well with the art and design of the game, sometimes it causes a bit of confusion as to what exactly needs to be done but with a few tries you’ll be on your way. Sound effects can actually portray a lot of things if presented correctly, something this game takes full advantage of in order to bring life to it’s worlds and characters.
While Karma has a lot of great features, don’t take it lightly, puzzles and challenges lie throughout the game so start those thinking processors, you’ll need them as the puzzles difficulty begins to rise as the story goes on. Of course if you ever get stuck I highly recommend watching gameplay videos from other players, a small hint or two can take you from being stuck to moving on! A feature that I have yet to mention is the little light bulb in the corner, giving you small hints as what to do next, while it’s handy, sometimes it’s not that helpful and depends on a lot of factors to work correctly, it’s a good feature but if you are really really stuck, a gameplay vid should be a bit more clear.
One thing I can guarantee, you’ll be playing this game for a while and you might even get hooked on it, be careful, don’t build up too much Karma or you might end up in the world of Karma Incarnation 1!
